Southern Cross Service Dogs Recognized by Fox 35: A Tribute to Shimanski in Winter Garden

We’re delighted to share an exciting highlight for Southern Cross Service Dogs. We recently had the honor of being featured on Fox 35 Orlando, WOFL-TV, in recognition of our mission and the profound work we are doing for veterans in our Winter Garden, Florida location.

The spotlight of this feature was our founder, Brandon Marquez, and Shimanski, a U.S. Marine Corps Special Operations Command multipurpose canine who is a true embodiment of courage and dedication. Shimanski, a hero with four tours to his name, was honored with the Fox 35 Care Force Award.

The bond between Brandon and Shimanski highlights the deep, transformative relationships we foster between veterans and their service dogs. This connection is the bedrock of our mission at Southern Cross Service Dogs.

David Martin from Fox 35 generously spent the morning with us at our new training location, Crux Canine Training, providing viewers with an inside look at our operations and the tireless work our team pours into every single day.

We invite you to watch the Fox 35 feature and witness the heart and passion that goes into Southern Cross Service Dogs. It’s an incredible honor for us to make a difference in the lives of veterans, and we are profoundly grateful for the opportunity to share our mission with the wider community.

As we move forward, we will continue to honor brave dogs like Shimanski, who not only serve in the line of duty but also bring joy, companionship, and an invaluable sense of support to the veterans they assist.
